Sacrificial Paddle
Everyone sits around the fire in a circle. The paddle is set in the fire upright. As it burns, it will eventually fall. The joke is that whoever it points to when it falls has to be president of the Alamo City Rivermen for the ensuing year. And given that this event is in January, no persuasion is needed to get people to sit around the fire.
